MIL-STD-1316E, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE DESIGN CRITERIA STANDARD FUZE DESIGN, SAFETY CRITERIA FOR. 3. This standard establishes specific design safety criteria for fuzes. It applies primarily to the safety and arming functions performed by fuzes for use with munitions. The safety and
arming requirements specified herein are mandatory fundamental elements of design,
engineering, production and procurement of fuzes. Fuzes shall provide safety that is
consistent with assembly, handling, storage, transportation, and disposal. Munition fuzes historically have utilized sensitive explosive elements whose output has
been physically interrupted until arming. Control of the arming process in these fuzes was
accomplished by mechanical means. The advent and rapid advancement in solid state
electronics has furnished alternatives for fuze safety design. In recent years, advances in
explosive initiation elements have provided an option for eliminating the need for physical
interruption of the explosive train. The application of these technology advances is
addressed in the Current revision to these standards.

MIL-STD-13231 DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STANDARD PRACTICE MAKING OF ELECTRIC ITEMS. This standard covers the general requirements for marking of electric items, except marking for shipment and as otherwise specified by an applicable government document covering the item on which the marking appears. These requirements cover both the information to be shown by the marking and the material and processes used therefore. This standard should be implemented by incorporating suitable requirements directly in acquisition documents.

and testing of oxygen or oxygen-enriched systems and components; oxygen generating
plants including nitrogen, hydrogen, and demineralized water support systems and
components; and helium, helium-oxygen, and hydrogen life support systems and
components. Compressed air systems directly supporting oxygen generating
equipment are cleaned in accordance with MIL-STD-1622. Each activity should
implement the applicable requirements of this document through a locally prepared
and approved procedure. Activities subject to additional quality assurance
requirements such as NAVSEA SS800-AG-MAN-010/P-9290 or NAVSEA SS521-AA-MAN-010
should obtain procedure approval from the applicable certifying activity.
