MIL-STD-38784, STANDARD PRACTICE FOR MANUALS, TECHNICAL- GENERAL STYLE AND FORMAT REQUIREMENTS. This standard covers the general style and format requirements for the preparation of
standard Technical Manuals (TM) (see 3.2.36 and 3.2.38) and changes to standard TMs. This
includes all technical documents which are assigned a TM identification number and are to be
controlled by a TM management information system or are subject to requisition from an inventory
control point. In addition to ‘paper” deliverables, this standard provides for electronic delivery of data
through use of the Document &pe Definitions (DTD) contained in Appendixes B through E. This
general style and format standard supplements the various detail specifications for specific types of
TMs and related publications and does not alone deliver any technical data. Examples at the rear
of this standard are typical and may be adapted to fit the specific equipment or situation being
covered.
