FED-STD-162A, FEDERAL STANDARD: HOSE, RUBBER, VISUAL INSPECTION GUIDE FOR (09 MAY 1967)., This standard covers visible defects in natural or synthetic rubber hose. The purpose of this standard is to: (a) Provide photographs and descriptions of the defects commonly found in rubber hose together with a statement of their usual classification: “major defect or minor defect”. “Critical defects” are determined by examination and tests. (b) Facilitate inspection of rubber hose and increase efficiency of Government inspectors. (c) Provide a training manual for new Government inspectors.
