This DID identifies the format and content preparation instructions for a Performance or Detail Specification resulting from the work task described in 5.2.1.4.2 through 5.2.1.4.2.2 MIL-STD-1587. Material specifications are used to identify the specific requirements for a raw material, mixtures, or semi-fabricated materials that are used in the fabrication of a product configuration item (CI). Normally, a material specification applies to production, but may be prepared to control the development of a material.
