A-A-59325, COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION: POUCH, HUMAN REMAINS (02-SEP-1995) [NO S/S DOCUMENT]., This Commercial Item Description covers a human remains pouch for mortuary use. The human remains pouch shall have 94” by 36” nominal dimensions with a weight of approximately 4 lbs. Shall have a 140” envelope with a 2 way zipper with 2 pulls that allow pouch to be opened and closed at any point. Zipper shall be a heavy duty #9 or #10 zipper. Material shall be 17 mil reinforced vinyl with the pouch having a carrying capacity of 300 lbs. Pouch shall not be affected by temperature extremes, will not deteriorate or mildew and shall not tear even if punctured. Pouch shall be impervious to blood, fluids, body fats, chemicals and shall have minimum odor when closed. There shall be no side seams. Six handles shall be provided for lifting with each handle secured by heavy duty rivets. Straps shall be 2” wide polypropylene webbing with a tensile strength of 980 lbs. and shall run completely under the pouch for added strength and support. Additional longitudinal straps shall be provided on each side to allow for lifting by two people or helicopter without sagging.
