AN919 (REV. 9) (NOTICE 3), AIR FORCE-NAVY AERONAUTICAL STANDARD: REDUCER - EXTERNAL THREAD FLARED TUBE (23 MAR 2011) [SEE NOTICE 3 FOR REPLACEMENT INFORMATION]., AN919 REV 9, dated 04 August 1983, is hereby canceled. Future acquisitions for this item should refer to SAE-AS5174, "Fitting, Union and Reducer, Flared". (Copies of these documents are available online at http://www.sae.org or from the SAE World Headquarters, 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA 15096-0001.) Reason for NOTICE 3: SAE inactivated Part or Identifying Numbers (PIN) with material code letter D for replacement parts and for new design to use code letter W. This is because code letter W is stronger in tensile strength than code letter D. This is based on the previous PA’s revision, as a result of lessons learned. Plus to add back material code letter S for replacement parts and for new design to use code letter R. The code letter R is better for applications requiring higher temperature. Table l provides a detailed cross-reference of cancelled AN919 REV 9 PINs and replacement SAE-AS5174 PINs.
